Strong Families #4
It’s important to remember that being a great parent is part natural and part learned; even without the extreme situation we’re all living through, as parents there inevitably comes a time when we find the limits of our knowledge tested. It’s important to remember that gaps in our knowledge are not failings. It’s even more important to not allow our shame of those gaps to keep us back from learning more about the things that will help our kids develop and grow in the best way. The more skills and techniques we have in our parenting arsenal, the better prepared we will be when unexpected situations arise.
Look at this time as an opportunity to do the following:
Ask yourself: What do you like about parenting? What do you find challenging about parenting? How have your family’s schedules and routines changed? What parts of the day have you missed the most? Have any new routines developed?
Make a list of your hopes and dreams for your children. What are you going to do today to achieve those dreams? Write the answers to the questions down on paper and implement.
Write a Thank You note to a mentor or someone who has influenced your life in a positive way.
Any opportunity you take to improve your knowledge of parenting skills will be beneficial to your kids. For more information and resources, check out our website!
