Huizar: Lawmakers, being tough on crime includes addressing child abuse
"While not as loud as a gunshot or as visible as a broken window, child abuse inflicts physical and emotional scars that last a lifetime. The costs to the children themselves, and to society as a whole, are enormous.
That's why lawmakers, especially those who want to get tough on crime or rein in government spending, should devote more resources to addressing child abuse."
